Cold Laser Therapy

Our office possesses a High Intensity Class IV Cold Laser. Cold Laser Therapy is a photobiomodulation therapy that when light is brought to an affected area, helps that area heal. The photons of the laser light penetrate the skin and underlying tissue, they are absorbed by the cells and converted into energy. Energy is key to helping cells heal and become healthy again. As the cell membrane permeability is altered, cellular events like stimulation of ATP, stimulation of respiratory chain, increased DNA and RNA synthesis, and enhanced collagen synthesis are trigged. Treatments are recommended to be done as a group of 6-12 depending upon the severity of the injury. There are no side effects of Cold Laser Therapy as the light promotes innate healing of the body and often has a warm and soothing feeling to it.

Benefits of Cold Laser Therapy include:

  • Decreased inflammation

  • Decreased muscle tightness and soreness

  • Increased range of motion and movement
